mothersday

This Sunday, May 12, 2013 is Mother’s Day — a very special day when give our moms extra special treatment and say ‘thank you’ for, well, giving us extra special treatment every single day of our lives. On this day, every mom is celebrated for being wonderful, kind, selfless, loving and beautiful, and commemorated for all the wonderful she does for you.

And we believe the most important thing to remember and celebrate on this day are the valuable life lessons our mothers taught us.

This quote pinned by QNET Executive Chairperson Donna Imson on her Pinterest page states that “No job is more important than being a mom [because] we are raising the future with love and care.” And true enough, our mothers are often our very first teachers (in the same way that our teachers become our second parents—it seems teaching and parenthood really do come hand in hand). Whether we still see them on a regular basis or get to do so only in our thoughts now, whether we talk about the women who have brought us into this world or the ones who, like the mother described in one of these winning stories at this Florida-based online news site, have taken the responsibility of raising us, the things we learn from them surpass whatever we may pick up from textbooks. Members of midlife blog network Generation Fabulous  write about these very lessons in length for their May Blog Hop, while the staff of parenting and lifestyle site Babble share some fun and inspiring lessons they have learned from their moms in their own Mother’s Day tribute.

Reading these posts makes one realise just how many things we can learn from our mothers, and what makes it more amazing is that these are the lessons we can apply in almost anything in our daily lives. Our moms can even put some business schools out of business! If these business philosophies [unwittingly?] imparted to us by our moms are any indication, that is.

What about you? What are the biggest lessons you want to thank your mother for?
